Memorial PTA Membership

Have you thought about becoming a member of the Memorial PTA? It's a great way to make a difference in the lives of children at Memorial Elementary School. And the best part is, it's totally up to you how much time you want to commit. Our membership is designed to be as convenient as possible, with monthly meetings at the school that are entirely optional. Come when and if your schedule allows. We welcome everyone who wants to get involved, so why not consider joining us and being a part of something special? We'd love to have you on board!

PTA FAQs

  1. What does the PTA do?  The PTA raises funds to help support educational and curriculum needs of our students, as well as items or supplies that our school and/or teacher needs. The PTA organizes several family friendly events throughout the year such as Veteran's Day reception, seasonal family fun nights, movie nights, teacher and staff appreciation events and more.  Additionally, the PTA organizes the ME parent information sessions (PIT Stops)  which cover topics such as: understanding reading levels, behavior supports, social media/internet safety, water safety, and more. 

  2. What for the membership funds used for? Of the total PTA fee $4.50 comes back to our PTA to help support all that we do. 

  3. Am I required to volunteer if I join? No, there is no minimum time of hours you need to volunteer. Members  will be presented with opportunities to volunteer and can choose if they would like to participate or not. 

  4. Does the PTA need a certain number of members to be active? Yes, we must have at least 20 members to remain active with the Texas PTA. 

  5. Who can join the PTA?  Teachers, Parents, Grandparents, Relatives, Community Partners.  

  6. Who makes decisions on how PTA funds are used? The PTA Board Members vote on how the funds are used. If you are interested in joining as a Board Member, please email us for a list of open positions:  memorialelementaryschoolpta@gmail.com 

  7. Can I support the PTA monetarily without fundraising? Yes, you can make a monetary donation at any time of the year to the PTA.

Events & Programs PTA funds and/or organizes:

  • Spirit Wear design/sales

  • Veteran's Day reception

  • Holiday gifts for students 

  • Restaurant spirit nights 

  • Collect, organize and submit Reflections art submissions

  • Candy Cane Grams

  • Seasonal family fun nights

  • Family Movie Night

  • Science Night 

  • Monthly themed staff appreciation events (popcorn bar, coffee & cocoa, snacks, etc.)

  • Refreshments for PIT Stop meetings 

  • Staff Appreciation Week events & luncheon 

  • Yearbook design/sales 

  • Supplies for teachers and specials staff, as needed 

  • 5th Grade end-of-year party refreshments 

  • STAAR snacks and waters 

  • Supplies for the school garden 

 

The PTA would not be able to organize the many fun and exciting events we have without parent participation. Please consider joining and giving your time to help make these events possible!
